Strategic approach taken to build Tobago’s communities

July 14, 2016: Building stronger communities and more resilient Tobagonians is the aim of the Division of Community Development and Culture’s Strategic Plan 2016 – 2019, which was launched at the Division’s Glen Road Headquarters on July 12, 2016.

During the launch, Heads of Departments from the Division presented their units’ goals, objectives and initiatives that form part of the plan. The launch was the culmination of months of conversation among the Division’s staff.
Secretary of Community Development and Culture, Dr Denise Tsoiafatt-Angus said the plan will ensure a cohesive approach to developing the island.

“Today is about moving from reading different pages, to singing from the same book and the same page,” Tsoiafatt-Angus said, “as we move along to develop our communities by preserving our strong values and traditions that make us Tobagonians.”

Dr. Tsoiafatt-Angus said the Division’s vision is to build families, sustain culture, preserve communities and change lives.

The Secretary said the “real work” will begin with the implementation of the plan. She thanked all stakeholders as well as consultant Grace Thalma and Associates for their input and support in preparing the Strategic Plan.
